Boring post asking for computer advice

My laptop makes these weird robot sounds when I play videos/ listen to music. The problem persists even when using headphones, so it's not the speakers. Resetting fixes it, but it always comes back. I've tried defragging, checking for malware, and reinstalling the audio driver. Help? :x

Maybe uninstalling then installing audio/video codecs?

I'm not overly familiar with that system, but I can ask someone who is. My first thought is that it could be a conflict in your drivers/applications. It may or may not be resolvable by reinstalling the drivers. My Mac had some weird audio issues and I had to periodically run some clean up commands on it to fix it until new versions of the software resolved the issue.

Maybe not helpful, but... I had audio issues once and the only thing I could think of was to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. It's definitely an extreme way to fix what may be a trivial problem, but it's probably a good idea to do this once a year anyway, for performance reasons.
